Cylinder locks for self storage units
Most facilities start with whatever locks were available. A few years later nobody can say which key opens which unit. A standard cylinder and a documented key plan fixes that permanently — and it is the only way a replacement cylinder still matches the keys your tenants hold.
Choose your configuration
A cylinder order turns on four things: the cylinder size, the cam or fixing, brass against stainless, and the keying rule.
- Size
- 19 mm · 17 mm
Measure across the cylinder face, or send a photo with a ruler. - Key system
- Keyed alike · keyed different · master key · manager key
The family that makes a facility key plan possible. - Material
- Solid brass
Brass shell and core for corrosion resistance and key feel. - Suits
- Replacing mixed cylinders with one standard
Standardising an existing site without replacing doors. - Documentation
- Key plan per site
So a cylinder ordered in three years still matches the original keys.

Cylinder lengths and cam patterns are not published as a table, because they only mean something against a specific door. Send the door and we confirm the size for it.
Fit and compatibility
- Cylinder size is the parameter that decides fit — 19 mm and 17 mm are the sizes we supply.
- If you are unsure of the size, measure across the cylinder face or send a photo with a ruler.
- Where the door has a hasp or padlock eye instead of a cylinder cut-out, use a padlock rather than a cylinder.
- We confirm fit with a physical sample so you are not guessing from a drawing.
Fit is a cylinder-length question. Photograph the cylinder face with a ruler, with the door edge in the same frame; we confirm 17 mm, 19 mm or a custom length with a sample.
Ordering information
Terms for cylinder locks. Keying is fixed when the plug is assembled, so the keying schedule is settled before production rather than with the shipping documents.
- MOQ
- From 500 pcs
Keying to a schedule is part of a standard order. Where the schedule needs a new keyway, that is quoted separately. - Samples
- From 5 days
Sent so you can fit the cylinder in the door and check the cam throw before committing to a schedule. - Batch production
- Around 30 days after spec and artwork confirmation
Keying adds a station to the plan, so schedules placed late in the year are mapped against the holiday shutdown. - Delivery terms
- EXW · FOB · CIF · CFR · DDP
Cylinders are dense and ship cheaply; on small orders the clearance cost can exceed the freight difference between terms. - Payment
- T/T · L/C · Credit card
On cylinder orders the balance is usually released against the shipping documents, because the keying is already fixed by then. - Documentation
- Spec sheet, inspection record, packing list, pre-shipment photos
Cylinder records cover the plug, the cam and the keying schedule, each issued against the model ordered.
Send the cylinder size, the unit count and the keying rule, and the quotation will carry the configuration rather than a list price.
Options and customization
Cylinder options that do not change the plug — keyway, key quantity, cap finish and packaging.
Key plan
Tell us the unit count per site, whether tenant keys must be unique, and how many manager keys you need. We return a key plan with the quotation.
Manager keys
A manager key can open every unit on one site, or every site in a group, depending on the keying schedule.
Overlock integration
If a manager key also operates overlock hardware for vacant units, both are planned on the same keying schedule.
Re-order continuity
Dimensions, finish and keying are stored against your specification so a later order matches what is already installed.
Quality and evidence
What a cylinder order is checked against, and what stays on file for the next schedule.

Buyer questions
How do I know which cylinder size I need?
Measure across the cylinder face. If that is not practical, send a photo of the cylinder with a ruler beside it — that is usually enough for us to identify the size and confirm it with a sample.
Can one manager key open every unit?
Yes. We build master-key and manager-key systems where each tenant key opens only its own unit and a manager key opens every unit on a site, or every site in a group. Tell us how many units and how many manager keys.
Can you match cylinders to doors we already have?
Yes — that is the main reason buyers come to this family. Send the door type, the current cylinder size or a photo, and we confirm the match with a physical sample.
What happens when a tenant key is lost?
It depends on your keying structure. With keyed-different units, only that unit is affected. With keyed-alike groups, a lost key exposes the whole group. Decide the policy before production, because keying cannot be changed afterwards.
Can you keep our keying on file for re-orders?
Yes. The key plan and cylinder specification are recorded against your account, so a re-order two years later still matches the keys in circulation.
