Combination padlocks for storage units

A four-dial mechanical lock removes the key from the transaction entirely — no keys to cut, issue, track or replace. Ten thousand codes, no battery and no electronics, for the tenant units most self-storage operators specify.

Fit and compatibility

  • A dial combination lock fits the same hasp as a disc padlock, so it is a direct alternative on standard unit doors.
  • Because there is no key cylinder, a manager key cannot open it. If staff need access, use a keyed cylinder on those units instead.
  • For exposed outdoor units, confirm the body material and finish for the site — we will not describe the whole family as weatherproof.
  • Send a photo of the door and hasp and we will confirm body size and shackle clearance with a physical sample.

Fit confirmed by sample, not by drawing. Send a door photo or your hasp dimensions and we will send a physical sample before you commit to a quantity.

Ordering information

Terms for combination padlocks. Because there is no keying step, the code policy is the only thing that has to be settled before production.

MOQ
From 500 pcs
Factory-set codes are the standard route, and a printed code card or custom blister pack stays inside the standard minimum.
Samples
From 5 days
Sent so you can feel the dial action and check the shackle against the hasp before committing.
Batch production
Around 30 days after spec and artwork confirmation
Code setting is a separate station, so a large order is scheduled around the holiday period rather than through it.
Delivery terms
EXW · FOB · CIF · CFR · DDP
Combination padlocks need no keying, so the trade term is the main variable between two otherwise identical quotations.
Payment
T/T · L/C · Credit card
Combination orders follow the same terms as keyed families: deposit first, balance against documents or on shipment.
Documentation
Spec sheet, inspection record, packing list, pre-shipment photos
Combination records cover the dial mechanism and the shackle; the code policy is recorded in writing rather than on the record.

Send the unit count and the code policy, and the quotation will show the configuration and the carton quantities.

Options and customization

Combination options that do not change the dial — code policy, body colour, packaging and label.

Branding

Laser logo on the body, with printed boxes, blister cards or paper cards to your artwork.

Code setting

Factory-set models arrive with a code already set, ready to hand to a tenant. Resettable models let the tenant or manager set a new code on site.

Site standard

One model across every unit means staff give tenants the same instructions at every site.

Mixed with keyed families

Combination locks for self-service units and keyed cylinders for manager access, supplied on one order and one shipment.

Mixed orders

Dial combination locks, disc padlocks and cylinders consolidated into one shipment from Ningbo or Shanghai.

How we inspect and test

Buyer questions

How many combinations does a four-dial padlock give?

Ten thousand — four wheels, each with ten positions. That is enough separation between units for a normal facility, provided the code is not left at the factory default.

Can the code be changed after installation?

It depends on the model. Resettable models let the tenant or the manager set a new code on site, which is what makes them practical between tenancies. Factory-set models arrive with a fixed code. Tell us which behaviour you want and we will confirm the model.

Are these suitable for outdoor units?

It depends on the model and the exposure, not on the family. Dial mechanisms are mechanical and do not fail from a flat battery, but the body and finish decide how the lock survives weather. Tell us where the units are and we will confirm the material and finish that applies — we will not describe the whole family as weatherproof.

Can a manager key open a combination lock?

No. A mechanical combination padlock has no key cylinder, so there is no keyway to master. If a manager has to enter units for inspection or an overlock routine, those units need a keyed padlock or cylinder on a master-key schedule. Many sites run both: combination locks on self-service units, keyed hardware where staff need access.

What happens if a tenant forgets the code?

On a resettable model a member of staff resets the lock on site. That is a support call rather than a replacement sale, so it is worth deciding the policy — and the charge, if any — before you standardise on this family.

Can the code be set before the locks are delivered?

Yes. On factory-set models the lock arrives with a code already set, so it is ready to hand to a tenant. Tell us the code you want and we will confirm it with the quotation. User-resettable models arrive open, with instructions for setting the code on site.
